Your breakdown outline and post are quite insightful I’m reading Jesus manifesto also using audible.com and I’ve read some by watchman nee. Often interpretation by others really helps because the flesh is so strong and these books by old elder Jesus people like bob George hurt our pride and seem like strange new traditions. Yet Jesus is our Christianity. Wow I did really like your post because I’m now able to speak to it. Jesus is our first And last! CHRIST IN US!

“What will I do?” My brother…..nothing! Simply rest. The subtle lie in your comment is that your “spirit is weak.” In reality, your FLESH is the thing that is weak. Your spirit is in Christ which is in God. Your spirit has been recreated IN Christ Jesus.

Hi Cindy,
First I must thank you for such a Spirit filled and intelligent post. I really appreciated your heart. Having said that, if you detect anything sarcastic or offensive, I am asking you to forgive me ahead of time, because that is NOT my intention.

You will see by reading some of my other posts that I totally agree with you regarding walking in total dependence on Jesus. He gave His life FOR us to give His life TO us in order to live His life THROUGH us….period!!! But when speaking about & using hypnosis, I am NOT speaking about or referring to our walk in the Spirit.

It is not a short cut, because it has to do with our SOUL and not our SPIRIT. Let me ask you something. If you break your arm, do you see a doctor to get it set & put in a cast? Do folks seek the counsel of a nutritionist to help with eating more healthy? If a person desires to move toward or stay in health do they seek out a Chiropractor? Of course!!!

Why aren’t those choices looked at as ungodly & fleshly, etc. ? As a Consulting Hypnotist, I do NOT do anything to the person. I merely guide them to use their own GOD GIVEN mental ability to bring healing to THEIR SOUL. You see we ARE doing it ALL the time……naturally!

Finally, like many people today, Peter was “stuck” in his legalistic religious mindset. Father had Peter go into a “trance” and it was THEN that he realized his limiting belief. (Acts 10:10) It was so significant that he retells the story in Acts 11:15. Even Paul said that “I…was praying in the temple, that I fell into a TRANCE.”

I’m not afraid of hypnosis, but I wonder why believers (at least believers who are of normal mental health) would need it? We are dead to sin and our need is to learn to stand back and allow Christ to live in and through us. This is our goal, reachable by seeking Him day by day and moment by moment and yielding ourselves to His will as He enables us. I’m not sure there are any viable short-cuts. Hypnosis seems to me to be one of those promised short-cuts to living a holy life. I don’t know if it’s possible to hypnotize ourselves out of sin and into maturity in Christ.

But yes, I must agree with you that the letter you received is silly and based on ignorance. I would object to hypnotism only on the basis of the things I’ve said above. But perhaps you would consider prayer and spending time meditating on the word and listening to God to be a state of hypnosis. Perhaps you would in some sense be correct in this assessment. But I would rather depend on Christ to lead me into paths of righteousness than myself or any other person (though we can certainly encourage one another in righteousness.) Jesus is our only shepherd.

I love this post and teach this same truth to as many people as I can reach. legalism is a killer and zi lived bound by it for many years as a Christian because I wasn’t taught any different and I interpreted the Bible they way I had always been taught.

Today I live under God’s amazing grace and understand more every day my identity in Christ. I call the flesh in a believer “flesh patterns”. We are new creations in our spirit but we have to allow out new spirit to transform our soul (will, emotions) and our body. Oops the teacher in me trying to come out…
